Preliminary sketches assist owners to fine tune the design and determine if the project meets the budget. A builder can generally give a budget figure for the works from information on a preliminary sketch. At this stage it is recommended that owners review the works in progress and completed jobs of their prospective builders. This stage is also a good time to review the plans and discuss with the builder and designer difficulties or suggested improvements. On some projects this stage also may mean a consultation with a Building Certifier to ensure compliance with council requirements.
